Thanks. I’m from a rural area which has also been hit with protest/riot/standoffs. It’s pretty cleanly split between older people (who just want the kids to go home and the violent ones to go to jail) and younger people (who demand the government to do certain things, some feasible and some unfeasible). I’m in between—it’s reasonable to expect protests to be peaceful and also for the government to actually be responsive to the population.
The cops are just the poor souls stuck in the middle. Don’t believe the police brutality narrative—nobody has gotten killed in nearly 3 months of rioting. The students are desperate to magnify the actions of the cops to gain public/international support.
